Privacy Policy
Voice Recorder — Voice Memos for Android keeps your recordings on-device and relies on limited analytics to improve stability and discoverability. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and the choices you have.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Voice Recorder — Voice Memos (the “App”) processes information when you install and use it on your Android device or visit our website. The App is published by the Voice Recorder team (“we”, “our”, or “us”). We keep recordings local to your device, collect only diagnostic and usage analytics, and provide a single contact channel for privacy questions at [email protected].
2. Data We Collect
The App does not upload or store your audio files, transcripts, or personal notes on our servers. Recordings remain entirely on the device you use to create them.
When you grant consent for analytics, we collect standard usage metrics through trusted SDKs: Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics for Firebase, and AppsFlyer. These services capture aggregated information such as device type, operating system version, session duration, screens viewed, feature interactions (e.g., starting or finishing a recording), coarse location derived from IP, advertising identifiers, crash logs, and performance diagnostics. We do not add any custom personal identifiers beyond what each provider collects by default.
3. How We Use Data
We use analytics data to understand feature adoption, diagnose crashes, and prioritize improvements that keep the App reliable for students, journalists, and musicians. The information is processed in aggregated form and is not used to build individual profiles or target advertising.
We do not serve in-app advertising, run marketing campaigns, or send push notifications. Analytics helps us evaluate feature quality and discoverability only.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third parties to provide analytics. Each provider processes data according to its own privacy documentation:
- Firebase Analytics by Google LLC — usage metrics, crash reports, device information. Learn more at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — real-time engagement reporting to improve user flows.
- AppsFlyer — attribution and campaign performance to understand how users discover the App. Details at https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/privacy-policy/.
These services may store data on servers outside your country of residence. We do not share recordings or any additional personal data with them.
5. Permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions solely for their stated purpose:
- Microphone — capture high-quality audio for your voice memos.
- Storage / Files and Media — save and access recordings locally on your device.
- Internet — send anonymous analytics events to Firebase, Google Analytics, and AppsFlyer when consent is granted.
You can revoke any permission in your device settings. Revoking microphone or storage access will limit recording functionality; revoking internet access disables analytics transmission.
6. Data Retention
Audio recordings stay on your device until you delete them. We do not store copies or backups on our infrastructure. Analytics providers retain aggregated usage data in line with their default policies, which typically range from 2 to 26 months. We do not maintain separate archives.
7. Security
Because recordings never leave your device, they are protected by your device’s built-in security controls (lock screen, encryption if enabled). We do not apply additional encryption or processing on our servers. For analytics, data is transmitted over HTTPS to each provider.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is designed for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that a child under 13 has enabled analytics without guardian consent, we will remove the associated analytics data after receiving notice.
9. Your Choices and Rights
You can control analytics collection by adjusting cookie consent on our website or restricting advertising identifiers and analytics permissions in Android settings. If you wish to request access to, correction of, or deletion of analytics data linked to your advertising ID, contact us at [email protected] and include your device’s advertising identifier so we can coordinate with our analytics partners.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. Any revisions will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If changes are significant, we will provide in-app or website notice.
Version 1.0 — Effective October 03, 2025.
